Get connected. Get involved. Get informed ... Visit the FPA Community Building.
Ever wish you had an army of peers you could turn to for advice, ideas and support? You now do.
FPA has two tools for you to use -- the Community Building, where you can invite others to come together to discuss topics of common interest, and the Community Gathering Place in the exhibit hall.
FPA's Community Gathering Place in the exhibit hall is the one-stop shop to learn about ways to get involved at FPA. Interested in establishing a new community on a topic of special interest to you? This is the place to learn how to get this effort started. Or, if you just want to have a one-off gathering, you can come here to schedule a meeting in the Community Building.
And if you just want a casual place to gather with those already in your community, feel free to use the Community Gathering Place in the exhibit hall as your meeting place!
The Community Building meeting rooms are the place where you can reach out to get to know those who share your interests. Use this space to schedule an hour-long topic on whatever you are most interested in. Want to book your meeting in the Community Building right now? Go here to fill out the reservation form to do so!
Communities of Interest
This is your opportunity to learn about the different communities that are a part of FPA -- AND how you can create a new one, if you have a passion you would like to share!
Active FPA communities are listed below:
Financial Literacy
Gather with colleagues to share successes and challenges on how to improve consumer financial literacy. This community includes participation from planners all over the globe.
International
The International Community will gather on Thursday morning from 9am - 12pm in the Marriott. Conversation will be focused on peer-to-peer learning, so if you have an interest in connecting with colleagues from around the world, this opportunity is for you! For more information, email Laura Brook.
MPACT
If you are a mid-career planner or a career changer, go here to learn more about MPACT.
Master Planners
This is the community for those who fulfill the "rule of 65," having a combined age and years of experience greater than this number. Come together to learn more about how you can learn from fellow senior planners and give back by mentoring those new to the profession. Go here for the opportunity to get involved.
NexGen
Are you a planner 36 years old or younger? If so, you should be a member of the NexGen Community of Interest.
Peak Oil
Are you concerned about the impact of this issue on financial planning and the world? Go here to take part in the conversation.
Pro Bono
Do you want to give back to your community? Become an FPA Pro Bono Volunteer! Learn about chapter programs throughout the country that are reaching out to low income families and others in financial distress, and what you can do to help. For more information, email Amira Tart.
Students
Come connect and have conversations in the FPA Community Building booth.
Volunteering
Looking or ways to get involved at FPA? Stop by the booth to learn about the myriad volunteer opportunities available to you at the chapter and national level.
