'Tis the Season

It's December in Boston and the holidays are upon us. As a native Bostonian, I've learned that spending the winter in New England doesn't just mean cold weather (it is), snow (got a few inches this week) and huge heating bills (coming soon). Rather it truly is a time for friends and families alike to gather together, enjoy each other's company and celebrate the New Year ahead. Whether it is ice skating in Boston Common, watching the tree lighting in Copley Square or listening to the Boston Pops at Symphony Hall, there's so many ways to enjoy winter in Boston.

This year I'll be sharing the holiday season with my new friends on the FPA Boston 2008 task force. It's my first year being involved in the planning stages of an FPA annual conference and it's been nothing short of exciting!

The past several months have been a flurry of e-mail exchanges, brainstorming and research to create the best possible program for FPA Boston 2008. My colleagues on the task force have proven their dedication and enthusiasm to creating a revolutionary conference come fall.

In the coming months, be sure to check out the Practice Management and Technology track, where my colleague Rich Busillo and I are planning an exciting selection of educational sessions. We're gathering the best resources that our financial planning community and the Boston area have to offer so that you can go home informed and inspired to build upon your practice.

By the time you arrive in Boston, the snow will have melted and the foliage will be in its full glory. But one thing that won't change come October is that Boston will still be the perfect city for a gathering of friends.

As we join together October 4-7, I look forward to meeting you and sharing the gifts of knowledge the task force has so diligently brought together with you in mind.
