Our task force is currently embroiled in the messiest part of planning a conference. It's a time where hundreds of ideas, e-mails, solicitations and political manueverings all place pressure on the task force to build an educational program that stands on its own. As a group we have solicited hundreds of financial planners, academics, international members, financial services providers and speakers bureaus, as well as our own individual centers of influence, all in an effort to reflect the current pulse of FPA's heart.
At this point, creativity abounds and possibilities are endless.
Of course, living in the non-profit world, FPA doesn't have the "deep pockets" that some for-profit companies may have, but we seek to build alliances with these groups in an effort to showcase their intellectual capital and offer them visibiliy at the financial planning profession's grand stage.Last week, I attended a site visit with FPA's management team. The new Boston Convention and Exhibition Center is an achitetchural masterpiece. The exhibit hall is spacious with a walking bridge running across its top. The are multiple areas for great conversation, comfortable meeting rooms; and a skyline of Boston that will reflect the fall foliage and crispness in the October air.
Right now Boston is revelling from another World Series Victory and we maintain tremendous enthusiasm for our New England Patriots. Perhaps a "sports theme" might be appropriate for our final night party? Hmmm...
A lot of energy continues to build around education session that highlight health care and longevity, retirement spending strategies, and "back to our roots" financial plan development and analysis. We're looking to structure sessions on leadership development, and finally, finally, finally, deliver Massachusetts-approved state insurance CE programs.
Combine all these ideas with the introduction of our "BEST OF BOSTON THINKERS" track (designed to introduce the greatest thinking, research, teaching and imaginations of Boston's noted academics), and we're off to a real exciting start!
Of course, we'll always have the core programming your come to expect, but in Boston you should expect SO MUCH MORE.
"Revolutionary Thinking" is the theme for FPA Boston 2008... Be
prepared to stretch your mind and consider the unexpected!
