As one who hails from the Midwest, I find Boston an intriguing choice for this year's FPA annual conference. Whether this is your first FPA conference, or you are a veteran tried and true, our goal is for you to leave Boston with a conference experience unlike any you have ever had.
It is no accident that the task force has adopted the mantra of "Revolutionary Thinking" as our guiding light. It is this thinking that has led to a lineup of speakers that will engage, educate, and entertain you. You will find some familiar faces presenting topics that are unlike any you have heard them speak on before, and see some new faces that are sure to become tomorrow's stars. You will learn from – and engage with – the current and future leaders of the financial planning profession.Task force chair Marc Freedman communicated that we would make this year's conference bigger and better than ever. As a result, we have expanded the number of available tracks and have focused on bringing you educational sessions that will move you beyond what you have come to expect from FPA's premier conference event. From essential tracks on retirement, insurance, and estate planning issues, to new tracks on leadership and health care, there's something for everyone.
Not to be outdone by the vast array of educational tracks, this year's task force has also secured a line-up of general session speakers that promise to create a buzz before attendees even arrive in Boston. Without giving too much away, you can expect to see "Black Swans" flying "Due North" throughout your time in Boston.
There is still a lot of work to do, and soon you will have all of the answers. You can consider our blog the "Paul Revere" of task force happenings, so be sure to check back for more as details are finalized. Most importantly, mark October 4-7 on your calendar as a can't miss Boston experience that will change the way you think about financial planning!
